Typical March weather through Thursday. Cold and snowy weather then expected this weekend. - KPAX-TV

MISSOULA — Southwest Montana will have the best chance to see light snow early this morning with parts of the Bitterroot valley seeing up to 1". Clouds will linger around west-central and southwest Montana Monday morning with clearing skies and sunshine expected by the afternoon. Northwest Montana will see clear skies throughout the day with highs topping out in the low to middle 40's.

Mainly dry conditions with near normal temperatures are expected Tuesday through Thursday. The one exception will be the potential for a weak system to bring lightly scattered rain/snow showers to northwest Montana Wednesday afternoon. Other than that expected dry conditions with highs in the 40's.

A big pattern change to cold and snowy weather is expected to impact the northern Rockies Friday and continue into the weekend. The main question to be answered throughout the week is how cold and how snowy? Mountains should be able to pick up a significant amount of snow over the weekend. Accumulating snow will also occur in the valleys, however, how much snow is still uncertain at this time. Temperatures will be another thing to watch as highs look to drop into the low 20's to low 30's by Saturday. Again, with this still being several days out specific details are still unclear, we will continue to bring updates as we move throughout the week.
