Mild again today, but colder, more typical March-like days aren't far off - KTTC

Clouds are beginning to break up across the area as the storm system that brought rain and a coating of light snow last night continues to pull away to the east. Look for more and more sunshine as we head into the heart of the afternoon with a light south breeze working to warm temperatures into the mid and upper 40s.

That mild south breeze tonight with increase later tonight to keep temperatures from falling much at all and overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Light rain will develop late in the night as a storm system from the northwest slides into the region.

Light rain showers will move through the area through the morning and midday hours Thursday along and ahead of a cold front that will swing through the Upper Mississippi Valley. We'll have gusty winds in the area through our Thursday, at first from the southwest with a turn to the northwest in the afternoon behind that front. Afternoon sunshine and the mild start to the day will help temperatures warm to the mid and upper 40s before cooler air pours in late in the day and for the evening.

We'll enjoy plenty of bright sunshine through the day on Friday, but raw northwest winds will continue to usher in cooler air. High temperatures will be in the upper 30s with wind chill values in the 20s thanks to those harsh wind that will occasionally reach 25 miles per hour.

The weekend is right now looking mainly dry for our area, but a weak storm system grazing the area to the southwest will bring extra clouds and perhaps a few spotty rain and snow showers for Saturday afternoon and evening. High temperatures will be in the mid and upper 30s Saturday with lower 40s in store for Sunday thanks to additional sunshine in the area.

Our pattern will remain fairly active next week with small chances for rain on Monday and Tuesday and then perhaps some snow for next Wednesday. High temperatures will ease down from the 40s to the mid and upper 30s for the middle part of the upcoming week.
