Hope you have voted, because it does matter.
It is a responsibility and should be mandatory for every voting-age citizen of this country.
Many have died over the history of this nation protecting our rights that many abuse today.
There is still time.
Early voting ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Of course, the big day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 when all precincts will be open for voters.
We are looking at candidates on the national, state and local levels.
All are important, because they seek leadership roles. Some may have personal agendas, but they are usually weeded out in the end.
The final decision comes from the results of the Nov. 3 vote. If things go as they have in recent years there will be some type of hang up about the count.
If the vote count is again tainted, then neither side will concede and the political circle will be on again.
As usual, it will again be ridiculous.
Normally, Americans should know on Nov. 4 who their new president is.
It will be interesting to see how it plays out this time.
Right now we are at the point that both sides are already polishing up the outrageous rhetoric and preparing for finger pointing.
Voters are sick of this childish play and I see no doubt that it has impacted the way some voters feel “why even cast my vote?”
Voting is a constitutional right, and it leads me again to several issues I strongly support.
Voting should be required and the military draft should be reinstated.
Voting day should be declared a national holiday and every person in this country should be required to serve two years in the military (men and women) once they turn 18 years old. If nothing else, it provides discipline and a clear understanding of unity.
Both of those qualities are a little on the scarce side today.
Many parents today have lost control, if they ever had any, of their children.
The military has a way of bringing that to an abrupt halt.
I like military justice, particularly in the early training stage — when one messes up, all pay the price. It seems to create a unified bunch in a hurry.
In the Vietnam era, studies showed that draftees made the better soldiers.
Most did not want to be there, but they had a job to do and they did it.
We need more of this type of attitude today.
In the meantime, be responsible and vote for the candidate of your choice.
Just do it.
