Washington Nationals News: Will Harris has blood clot in right arm; Stephen Strasburg throws sim game + more.… - Federal Baseball

Steven Fuentes was added to the Washington Nationals’ 40-Man roster this past October, after spending the summer at the Alternate Training site in Fredericksburg, VA last year.

Now he’s in West Palm Beach with the club, and on Thursday he got the call in the ninth inning for a save opportunity that he converted and seemed to really enjoy.

“He’s just a he’s super fun, loves the game, not afraid,” Davey Martinez said after giving the 23-year-old a spring opportunity. “That’s one thing for sure. This is like the third time he’s been out there in the ninth inning, and he’s just not afraid. He wants the ball. He attacks the strike zone, throws a lot of strikes. So far I love what I see out of him. Here’s another guy, I know he’s pitching late in games for us, but I think in the future I’d like to lengthen him out as well, and possibly get him to be a starter for right now.

“We can always change him if need be and put him in the bullpen. I love his attitude. He comes in ready to work every day and has fun doing it.”
