Not only will rookie Ezra Cleveland have his first offensive snap Sunday in an NFL game, he will start.

The Vikings announced before Sunday’s game against Atlanta at U.S. Bank Stadium that Cleveland, a second-round pick out of Boise State, will start at right guard in place of Dru Samia, who is out with a wrist injury.

Cleveland was inactive for the first game of the season before playing 17 snaps on special teams over the next four games.

Samia was inactive Sunday along with running back Dalvin Cook (groin),  wide receiver K.J. Osborn (hamstring) and cornerbacks Holton Hill (foot) and Kris Boyd (hamstring). For the third straight game, the Vikings dressed out just four cornerbacks.

The Vikings dressed out cornerbacks Cameron Dantzler, Jeff Gladney, Mike Hughes and Harrison Hand, a rookie who entered the game never having taken an NFL snap on defense.

Osborn, a rookie, returned punts and kickoffs in the three of the first four games before first being out last Sunday at Seattle with his injury. Wide receiver Chad Beebe is expected to return punts and running back Ameer Abdullah kickoffs against the Falcons.

Inactive Sunday for the Falcons were cornerback Jordan Miller, running back Qadree Ollison, safety Jaylinn Hawkins, tackle John Wetzel and defensive end Takk McKinley.
