The Dodgers made a series of moves before Sunday afternoon’s series finale in Sunday.
Right-handed pitcher Reyes Moronta had his contract selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Zach McKinstry was optioned in the Moronta move but immediately recalled when left-hander David Price was placed on the injured list. Left-handed pitcher Darien Núñez was designated for assignment to make room for Moronta on the 40-man roster.
Moronta allowed one run in six appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. He struck out 10 batters and walked four in six innings.
In parts of four Major League seasons with the Giants (2017–21), Moronta was 8–9 with a 2.65 ERA and 1.17 WHIP while averaging 11 strikeouts per nine innings. He was signed by the Dodgers as a non-roster free agent in March.
McKinstry was recalled on Wednesday and has yet to make his 2022 debut after slashing .404/.448/.673 in 12 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Price appeared in five games for the Dodgers this year, allowing one run and striking out five in 4 2/3 innings. No designation was given for the left-hander’s IL stint.
