While much of the state has seen a decline in the current surge of COVID-19 cases, Plumas County has moved in the opposite direction. Last week’s new case numbers, released by the Plumas County Public Health Agency, were the highest single week total since the pandemic began.
In fact, the current surge is far greater than the first major outbreak last winter, adding a thousand new cases in just three months. As of Oct. 28, Plumas County had accumulated 1,775 cases since March of 2020, and currently has 277 active cases. Unless we pay attention to common sense protective measures the community seems destined to continue to suffer from this evolving virus.
