I have no words for this.
Vanderbilt led 20-14 after Joseph Bulovas kicked a 28-yard field goal with 1:36 left. South Carolina had no timeouts and got the ball at its own 25-yard line after the ensuing kickoff went for a touchback.
South Carolina sent in backup quarterback Zeb Noland for the final drive, replacing Luke Doty who had thrown two interceptions. Of course they scored a touchdown. Of course.
Vanderbilt’s losing streak to South Carolina is now at 13 games. Its SEC losing streak is at 16. Neither of these things should be true right now and yet they are.
Seriously, what the hell was that? Vanderbilt should have won this game and didn’t. Instead, it let a backup quarterback drive 75 yards with no timeouts for the winning touchdown. And then, for good measure, Vanderbilt fumbled the ball away when it had its own chance to drive for a game-winner.
This is ridiculous.
