Charlotte Hornets rookie guard LaMelo Ball is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a fracture to his right wrist during Saturday night’s loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic. The injury was confirmed by the Hornets shortly thereafter.
Per Charania, Ball will seek a second opinion on the injury before deciding further steps.
Ball hurt the wrist bracing his fall during the second quarter of last night’s contest against the Clippers. Ball taped his wrist and remained in the game, though showed visible discomfort and struggled through the injury in the second half.
Through 41 games this season, Ball, the NBA rookie of the year frontrunner, is averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. The Hornets currently hold a record of 20-21 and sit as the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.
