Drew Lock will undergo further testing on his injured right shoulder on Monday, he told the media after Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lock exited during the first quarter of Monday's game in Pittsburgh when he tried to escape the pocket and was sacked by Bud Dupree. The 6-foot-4, 269-pound player landed on Lock, who lost the football.
"We're going to take it day by day, but I'm optimistic about it," Lock said after the game while wearing a sling. "We'll have it checked out tomorrow and we'll know more then."
The second-year quarterback was evaluated on the sideline and tried to imitate a throwing motion before returning to the locker room.
"It felt funny," Lock said. "I'm not going to blow it out of proportion on how funny it felt. I've been throwing a football my whole life and i wouldn't say it necessarily felt normal right off the bat. Came back in [the locker room] and just tried to assess the situation and see what we could do."
Lock, who tried to tuck the ball as he felt Dupree hit him, also suffered a hand injury during the 2019 preseason while trying to escape a sack.
"What you've got to do is stay healthy as a quarterback and it kind of goes back to my style of play," Lock said. "I like getting out and running. I like making plays when they're there. Both times, it was close, maybe could've gotten out of it. … I won't sit here and tell you that if I'm maybe close to getting out of it and making a big play for us that I'm just going to lay down and take a sack. I'm going to stay aggressive and just try to not have these awkward things happen and fall weird. There could be a slight adjustment in what I think is a makeable escape, but I'm going to stay true to my guns. I'm going to stick to what got me here and what helped us win a couple games last year and what's going to help us win games this year."
Head Coach Vic Fangio did not have immediate updates on Lock, Courtland Sutton (knee/cramping), Dre'Mont Jones (not specified) and DeMarcus Walker (calf).
