I have spent fifty years of my professional life fighting for my clients rights in various forms including criminal defense. There are a few things I have learned that we all should have learned in school.
I can’t dump my garbage in the middle of the street in front of my home. Driving through red lights is illegal and dangerous. The law is complex but designed to make us safe from harm and protect us from those who disobey it. I have a right to vote, to travel, to express my opinion, to live out my life unmolested by others.
When I was drafted into the Army I had to give my country two years of my life. I was not required to receive arms training because I refused to kill. My right not to take a life was honored by my country. I became a trained combat medic sans arms willing to die for my country.
Now I get calls from people who want to evade their civic duty to wear a mask and not get vaccinated. In other words who want to spread a deadly virus in the name of civil liberty. I explain to them that they can’t be forced to kill but they can be prevented from killing. Their idea of civil rights are different than mine Would any of your readers explain why we have a right to spread a deadly virus to our families, friends and strangers?
