Colder, snowier weather is right around the corner, forecasters say
Montana is on track to close out November with record-setting warmth, but seasonal conditions are right around the corner, forecasters say.
Montana’s official high temperature Sunday was 72 F at the airport in Jordan. That’s the highest temperature recorded at that site on that day in the last 30 years. The average high for this time of year is in the mid 30s.
Last month forecasters predicted La Niña could bring a cold, snowy winter to Montana. National Weather Service Meteorologist Travis Booth says nothing has changed that long-term outlook.
“Looking at the weather associated with the month of November during La Niña seasons, it’s not actually that unusual to have them be warmer than normal.”
Despite the recent warmth, precipitation is just about on track for November.
Much cooler conditions and scattered high elevation and valley snow showers are likely by early next week.
