The Cleveland Browns have made quite a few offseason moves that have benefitted the team including moving on from these four players.

It is not very often that an NFL team brings back all 53 players from the previous year and that’s just the nature of the business. The Cleveland Browns have moved on from some players and that was to be expected, but it was also the right move.

There are releases and trades that occur every year and the Browns have done both this offseason, along with signing free agents. Fans don’t always like when one of their favorites is released or traded, so it’s a good thing the front office doesn’t take that into consideration.

General manager Andrew Berry has had quite the busy offseason and the moves he has made appear to have put the Browns in a position to make a Super Bowl run. The addition of Deshaun Watson alone puts the Browns in serious contention, but then you add in a receiver of the caliber of Amari Cooper and now, this offense is vastly different from a year ago.

The Browns were smart to move on from these four players.

Mack Wilson

Mack Wilson had an up and down three-year career with the Browns and it seemed that he could never fully put it together Andrew Berry traded Wilson to the New England Patriots in exchange for EDGE rusher, Chase Winovich.

Wilson was drafted in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Alabama, but that was before Andrew Berry took over as general manager. Wilson’s inconsistency made this an easy decision for Berry to make and Winovich will have a chance to shine alongside Myles Garrett and he can also drop back in coverage if needed.

In 43 games for the Browns, Wilson compiled 163 tackles (107 solo, five for loss), nine pass breakups, a forced fumble, sack, and interception. He always brought everything he had on the field, but oftentimes it simply wasn’t enough. He missed a ton of tackles and some in crucial situations.

A change of scenery could do him good, especially going to play for Bill Belichick, who has ties with Wilson’s Alabama coach, Nick Saban. If anyone can get the absolute most out of Wilson, it’s Belichick.
