Last offseason, one of the best moves the Buffalo Bills made was signing Daryl Williams to a one-year deal. At one time, the former fourth round pick looked to be a rising star at right tackle with the Carolina Panthers.
However, injuries and inconsistent play in 2018 and 2019 saw Williams stock drop however Brandon Beane knew the type of player he could be. The Panthers drafted Williams in 2015 and Beane was a part of the Panthers’ front office at the time.

According to Pro Football Focus, he was called for nine penalties (tied for fifth among tackles) and allowed three sacks (tied for 26th among tackles).
Expectations for 2021 with the Buffalo Bills
Entering this offseason, Daryl Williams was expected to be highly sought after in free agency. The number of starting-caliber tackles was limited and he would likely receive a contract that didn’t allow the Bills to bring him back.
However, the two sides were able to agree to a three-year, $24 million dollar contract. This new deal made him the ninth highest-paid right tackle in terms of average salary, according to Spotrac. This type of investment signals that the Buffalo Bills believe Williams is their starting right tackle for this season, even though they did draft two offensive tackles in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Daryl Williams was a pleasant surprise for the Buffalo Bills last year and should continue to provide above-average production at right tackle in 2021.
