To the Editor:
As this is a hot topic I know that I will get heat for my comments. The news is again filled with views on abortion both for and against. I believe in the sanctity of life, and also the right for women to make decisions as to their reproductive rights. This right to their bodies should not be legislated away by politicians (mostly men). The choice of options should be a matter for her, her doctor, and any significant other involved. A women should not be forced to endure an unwanted or medically dangerous pregnancy because men feel that they are just chattel and brood stock that have no mind of their own. The saddest thing is the same politicians that are attempting to make criminals of women who seek to have control of these reproductive rights have shown their hypocrisy in their own personal lives by either condoning or facilitating the same procedures that they are trying to outlaw for the nation. When it has directly impacted them it is hushed up as if it never occurred. Does this mean that these same men who force the women to have this child will all be ready to stand up and provide financially for said child. Or do we just increase the number of the number of unwed mothers who struggle to raise a child by themselves while the men brag about the number of baby mommies they have out there in the world that they are not caring for or supporting the child the mother was forced to bear.
