At this point of the offseason, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program just aren’t going to have many changes going on with the coaching staff. Most of the major moves for Texas on the college football coaching carousel wound up taking place in the last few months.
The major moves that Sark and the Longhorns made to the coaching staff so far this offseason were among the positional coaches and off-field staff.
The first major move to speak of came when Texas lost their now-former running backs coach Stan Drayton, who took the head coaching job with the Temple Owls. Texas replaced Drayton with the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets running backs coach Tashard Choice.

And then, the second major change for the Longhorns coaching staff came when they let go of wide receivers coach Andre Coleman after nearly three years with the program. Texas replaced Coleman with the former Pitt Panthers wide receivers coach Brennan Marion. The official title for Marion with the Texas staff will be wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator.
Moreover, the final major addition to the Longhorns staff to speak of so far this offseason came with the former longtime TCU Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson. A very notable addition last month, Patterson will be serving as the special assistant to the head coach in an off-field role with this staff.
But there could still be more additions to the off-field staff for the Longhorns before it’s all said and done this offseason. Here’s a look into three potential analyst staff additions the Longhorns could get throughout in the months ahead.
