Warriors center James Wiseman will not return to Saturday night’s game against the Houston Rockets at Chase Center after sustaining a right knee injury in the first half and will undergo further evaluation, the team announced.

Wiseman left the game after landing awkwardly following a dunk attempt that was blocked by Rockets forward Kenyon Martin Jr. with 11:23 to go in the second quarter. Wiseman’s right knee buckled when he landed, and the 20-year-old rookie tumbled to the court. Golden State called a timeout and Wiseman limped to the locker room alongside director of sports medicine and performance Rick Celebrini. The team said he was being evaluated at halftime.

This is a tough break for Wiseman, who appeared to be turning the corner during an up-and-down rookie season. After totaling 21 points on 15-for-24 shooting and 16 rebounds over the last two games, Wiseman had six points on 3-for-5 shooting and one rebound in six minutes on Saturday.
