Donald Trump fumes, 'disappointed' about shuttered GM Ohio plant - New York Post

President Trump on Sunday said he spoke with General Motors CEO Mary Barra and told her he’s disappointed about a shuttered car plant in Ohio.

Trump acknowledged his conversation with Barra in a tweet Sunday after he fumed in other tweets about the Lordstown, Ohio, plant shutting down.

“I am not happy that it is closed when everything else in our Country is BOOMING. I asked her to sell it or do something quickly,” Trump wrote in the tweet sent at 6:27 p.m.

“She blamed the UAW Union — I don’t care, I just want it open!” he added.

General Motors announced the plant’s closure in November, putting 1,500 people out of work. In a statement at the time, GM cited “changing customer preferences in the U.S.” when announcing the layoffs.

“General Motors must get their Lordstown, Ohio, plant open, maybe in a different form or with a new owner, FAST!” Trump tweeted. “Toyota is investing 13.5 $Billion in U.S., others likewise. G.M. MUST ACT QUICKLY. Time is of the essence!”

Trump also targeted the president of the local united auto workers union, calling him a “Democrat” who “needs to get his act together.”

“I want action on Lordstown fast. Stop complaining and get the job done!,” Trump fumed in the tweet on Sunday.
